We Have Our Spider-Man!

Reports broke today that Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the upcoming The Social Network) will be the next Spider-Man, replacing Tobey Maguire in the upcoming reboot.

First of all, I still think that eight years is a little early to be rebooting a franchise. I mean, the first will only be a decade old when this comes out. But if we absolutely HAVE to do this, Garfield seems like a smart choice. My only concern is that he's a little too handsome to be a good Peter Parker, who's supposed to be an unassuming nerd, remember? Anyway, good luck, kid.

Thanks! Your blog is awesome too.

You know, I haven't actually seen Garfield in anything other than his Doctor Who guest spot, but I've got The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and the Red Riding Trilogy on my to-do list, so hopefully I'll find out soon how talented he is. I've heard mostly good things about him.

He was very good in Red Riding, and excellent in Boy A, which is worth seeing. I'm sure he's on the cusp of being pretty big now. (The Dr. Who part was fun, too.)
